Making Your Own Green Cleaning Scrub

A few years ago I was introduced to an amazing woman, Leslie Reichert the Green Cleaning Coach. She started green, safe and easy ways to clean for a healthier 'we and the environment'.  I had this recipe/mixture on Dolly is Cooking and it was liked so much that today I bring it over to Hibiscus House for you to still have at your fingertips and use.

Our Little Fawn For A Day

'Little Dolly'
Look at those eyes and the lashes!

Catie reminds me of myself when I was young, always taking in strays.  She and Doug had just recently been feeding two orphan puppies on the bottle.  Someone had dropped them off on a veterinarian's doorsteps. They just weened them from the bottle and she now has this little fawn.

She was only taking care of it for a few days.  We were blessed when she brought her to see us. Sharing in pictures and videos today this sweet trip to our home.

Monteleone by Noritake

This simple yet elegant fine china has been my favorite for many years. My friend Nancy and I chose the same pattern for our wedding gifts.  She had the most wonderful aunt who took us under her wing and helped us choose our patterns.  Aunt Hattie Ruth was her name and she worked in the fine gifts and china shop. We had such fun!  Today I'm showing this pattern 'Monteleone' by Noritake.

Fried Squash

Grandma Cora used to fry squash and sweet potatoes on her wood stove and let me tell you they were delicious!  Times have changed and I don't have a wood burning stove but I do like fried squash once in a while. Sharing one of my recipes today for these delicious crusty vegetables.

Arranging Beautiful Hydrangeas!

Don't you just love them?  I sure do!  My first memories of these beautiful flowers are of my grandmothers', both of them had them.  They seemed to have them growing around their back doors. As a child I thought the colors were just amazing.  I would stand and stare at them.  Lots of southern homes had them.  Hydrangea bushes, Magnolia, Crape Myrtle, Dogwoods and Chinaberry Trees were always in abundance in southern gardens.
Today I'm bringing in some of the beauty of the Hydrangea blooms.

Homemade Laundry Scent Booster

Today I am sharing the number one post ever from Dolly is Cooking posted in early 2013. A homemade laundry scent booster.  The number one post here of all time is 'Mama Dot's' Sour Cream Pound. It was a good decision to close the other website down and focus all topics on one website. I'd like to welcome friends new and old to this website and since you liked this product so much here it is today.

You Don't Scare Me Lizard!

I love to walk around the flower gardens to see what is blooming this time of year.  The front porch is usually full of activity as well.  Birds building nests, wasps trying to build theirs, lizards scurrying around quickly.
This little lizard was threatening me I think because I was invading his territory.  I didn't see another lizard so guess it was directed at me and that black thing (camera) pointing at him.

To Mothers & My Mother's Day Poem to My Mama

My wish for every mother today is that you know you are loved and enjoy every minute.  To those of us who have lost ours I wish you peace and love.  May we mothers show our children the love we feel for them and shower them with tenderness.  I'm missing my mother today.  I wrote a poem last night and will share with you now.
