The project is coming along pretty good.  This post is about adding and enlarging a new top and two legs.  Do you know what it is now?  read more...

Rooster Doors For The Dresser RePurpose Project

Rooster Doors on Easel

Look at this!  Isn't Gwen talented?  I'll answer that, yes she certainly is!  This picture is of two doors that were attached to another piece of furniture.  She decided at that time she wanted to paint this scenery on them.  When closed they would look like this one Rooster.  I'll show you the cabinet she removed the doors from to make the current repurpose project....

Repurposing a Dresser for Little to No Cost

Gwen, my sister has the ability to do almost anything.  I've known her to do Taxidermy, Dog Grooming, Bake Wedding Cakes, Garden, Sculpt, Paint.  Basically anything she sets her mind too she does it.
I really wish I had some of what she has, this ability to just go and do!  I thought I'd have a few posts to cover what she has made with a dresser that once belonged to our grandmother.
Her goal was to build something useful for little to no cost if possible.
Today I share the concept and beginning of her bedroom dresser repurpose....

The Downstairs Help (Me!)

The Old Design Shop graphic art credit

I have the urge to Spring Clean right before and definitely right after Christmas.  Do you?  The first of the year seems like a good time to carry on with the deep cleaning and organizing.  The older I get the more simple I think I need things to be.
This self-proclaimed hoarder (minus the dead cats, rats and filth) is cleaning up her act..I always see in an item another use.  I can make this or I can do this with this, or someone might need this some day. That is a habit I intend to break or at least fight the urge to keep everything.
Today at Hibiscus House, I suppose in a Downton Abbey way, I am the downstairs staff.  Cooking, ironing and cleaning.  I love that show.  Do you?   It is nice to dream of living that way....

Christmas Punch

I haven't had punch in such a long time.  We just don't have it very often.  I had to go to the storage shed to pull this punch bowl set out.  Chuck and I received this punchbowl in 1972 it was one of two and it hasn't seen much use in a long time.  This is a punch everyone can drink.  It is very easy to make and quite good.  Today I share a recipe for Christmas Punch...
